Actual Play, Day After Ragnarok

I am going to start posting some actual play stuff here from out biweekly Day After Ragnarok game, and from gaming with my 3 sons.

Some background:
Our gaming group is 5-6 guys in their 30's and 40's, who try to meet every two weeks for gaming and beer drinking. We played 2 sessions of Day After Ragnarok last year, and had a lot of fun, but then tried a few other things. I am the primary GM for the group, and I can be pretty fickle about changing game systems and worlds at the drop of a hat.
I like Savage Worlds for the most part, but I find its randomness frustrating sometimes, especially with starting characters. We have had a few nearly TPKs and character deaths due to the randomness of dice, which I do not like. We have implemented a few changes to the base rules to fight randomness, and make the game more fun for our playing style. I can go into changes we use if anyone is interested!

So after a long hiatus we came back to DAR, and we had a lot of fun.
The elevator pitch for the setting is this:  when the Nazis realized they were losing WWII, they decided to turn the tide by summoning the Midgard Serpent from ancient Norse myth and legend to destroy the allied armies.
This worked pretty well, until the US flew a suicide bomber B-29 into the eye of the serpent and detonated the first atomic bomb. The Serpent was killed, and fell across Europe and Africa, killing millions and burying entire countries.
A Tsunami and toxic cloud of radioactive serpent poison fell on North America, destroying most of the country east of the Rockies. The game takes place in 1947, and has weird magic, serpent men, ophitech devices created from the blood and flesh of the downed serpent, and a general sense of original Gamma World weirdness.
There is a bunch more detail at their website if you want to learn more about the setting. We played 2 sessions last year where the PCs were hired by a salvager with a blimp to fly from Akron Ohio to Adrian MI, where there was an un-looted National Guard base full of weapons.
They managed to get the weapons, save a nearby town, and kill a serpent-man sorcerer and his creepy ghoul wife, along with about 100 Zombies.
Later today I will post a detailed write-up of the third adventure, since it is still fresh in my mind.
Hope you enjoyed this!

I just finished the first RPG writing project that I have attempted it several years.
The Elevator Pitch for the setting is Stargate meets Steampunk and Cowboys. I hope everyone enjoys it.
Files are shared below. This is definitely a Beta Release, I am sure there are a lot of grammar and layout errors, but I hope people will read, play, and enjoy, and help me correct any errors you find. Please download, read and let me know what you think!

Troll Lord Games Release Kindle version of Classic Monsters

Troll Lord Games has released a Kindle version of the Castles & Crusades book Classic Monsters. This is a great idea, and would love to see more RPG books released on the Kindle.
PDFs do not format or view very well on any of the E Ink Kindle devices.
Amazon.com: Castles & Crusades Classic Monsters eBook
I'm going to be trying something different with the blog over the next month.
A few years ago there was a website called gamingreport.com that did and excellent RSS feed of tabletop gaming and reviews.
It seems to be gone now, so I am going to try to set up something similar here, with a focus on Pen&Paper RPGs, with some wargame and boardgame stuff.

Wish me luck, and watch for more information!

For our 16th anniversary, Becky and I got tattoos! Mine is a QR Code, if you scan it with your cell phone camera, it will take you directly to my website. Ultra-nerdy! It might even work from this picture on the computer screen, it did on Becky's iphone.
